The SUN Business Network (SBN) Myanmar, a private sector network officially convened by United Nations World Food Program (WFP) under global Scaling Up Nutrition Movement, held its first Annual General Meeting at Mercure Yangon Kabar Aye where the Country Director and Resident Representative of WFP, Mr. Stephen Anderson, attended along with representatives from other civil society organizations, development partners and SBN members and spoke welcoming notes.
In the afternoon section of the meeting, the SBN Myanmar’s Chair and Co-chair were elected by voting of the Executive Board members according to the By-Laws. U Kyaw Thu Htet, the CEO of Myanmar Innovative Life Sciences, was elected to serve as the Chair of the Executive Board and Daw Aye Aye Than, Head of Corporate Affairs and Administration of Wilmar Myanmar company limited as the Co-chair. U Ye Min Aung, Chairman of Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) and Vice-chairman of UMFCCI, U Nyi Nyi Aung, Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Unilever EAC Myanmar company limited and Dr. Aye Khaing Soe, Director, New A1 Family company limited will be serving as the members of the Executive Board.
“It is a privilege to serve as the chair of this strong and committed executive board. SBN is critical because it not only provides members with growth opportunities but it is also creating a forum for exchanging dialogues to align the understandings and expectations between groups with different interests in the agri-food ecosystem” said U Kyaw Thu Htet. He also mentioned the changing dynamics of food security now is not only about moving food from one place to another but increasingly about producing food more resource-efficiently while mitigating its impacts on climate change.
